Hi  Everyone,

Here’s a little information to help you with your decision on which Venue to choose to enjoy your special day. Questions, comments and even criticisms are welcome – we can’t change if we don’t know what we’re doing wrong.

FOOD: Typically one meat suppers are $30.00/plate and 2 meat suppers are $35.00/plate. We request confirmation of numbers at least 10 days prior to the wedding, at which time the food and venue invoice must be paid in full.  Our dinners include choice of meat(s), 2 starches, 3 salads, veggies and dessert. Also becoming very popular is adding a late night snack. These can consist of cold cuts, veggies, fruit trays, squares, etc starting at $10.95/per person. We do a head count and only invoice for the actual number of people still present when a late night snack is added. We also have extra’s such as Perogies, fruit trays, and cabbage rolls that cost from $1 – 2 dollars extra per person. The facility rental is $650.00. We always sit down with the Bride and help her select a menu that will WOW her guests while still allowing her to remain within her budget.

LIQUOR: We supply the entire bar. Our prices are $4.50 for regular beer and liquor, and $5.50 for premium beer / liquor / cocktails / coolers / shooters etc. We have a small selection of Ultimate liqueurs available as well for $6.50. Typically the bride and groom will have an open tab for their wedding party and we will charge either a $2.00 (toonie bar) to their guests or $3.00 with the bride and groom being invoiced for the difference. We also frequently supply a wine table during dinner, and again, will add this to the invoice for your convenience. Wine tables are becoming a very popular trend.

LICENSE / INSURANCE: We are a fully licensed banquet hall. No need to purchase licenses, additional insurance or hire bartenders. We supply everything you need to make your special day as seamless as possible.

DECORATING: We also include ceiling draping and lighting in all wedding packages, which will add to the magic of the evening while saving the bride and groom a great deal of money. For a modest fee we can even decorate the tables with beautiful centre pieces, bring in specialty linens and chair covers. If you can dream it, we will make it happen.

DEPOSIT: Once the contract is signed and the $1,000.00 deposit has been paid, your date is guaranteed. We require final numbers for billing purposes 10 working days before the wedding, at which time the entire bill; less any liquor & food to be invoiced after the event; will be due in full. Late night lunches are also invoiced as we only bill for actual numbers.

3.      The Renter agrees to pay the NISKU RECREATION CENTRE the cost of repairs in case of excessive damage to the NISKU RECREATION CENTRE facility. Any damages incurred will be added to the final invoice.

          4.     The Renter agrees to indemnify and save harmless, the NISKU RECREATION CENTRE and all of its employees, agents, and or representatives from all actions, suits, claims and demands, costs and damages arising by reason of injury or death to any person or persons, or damage to any property resulting from the use and rental of the hall, conference room, outdoor facilities, or any portion thereof by the Renter.

5.        The           5. The Renter is restricted to using the NISKU RECREATION CENTRE for the purpose stated in paragraph 1 of this agreement, and is not permitted to use of the facility for any other purpose without the prior express written consent of the NISKU RECREATION CENTRE.

6.       The Renter is precluded from using the NISKU RECREATION CENTRE in any manner that will result in an increase in the rate of insurance or result in a cancellation of any insurance policy.

RULES AND REGULATIONS 

 of

The Nisku Recreation Centre

  1. (a) The NISKU RECREATION CENTRE reserves the right to withhold the Holding Deposit even if adequate notice is given if the facility cannot be rented out on the date of the function. If the Deposit is determined to be refundable, no refund will be issued until payment in full is received from the function being held on the same date.

    (b) The Holding Deposit must be paid in full at the time of booking the facility. No Deposit, No Guarantee the room will be reserved.

  1. Gratuities (payable at 17.5% of the entire invoice, but not on GST) will be included on Facility Rent when extra staff is needed to set the room up and tear the room down when it’s requested that it be set in a specific manner. 
  2.  The Renter agrees to exclusively use the NISKU RECREATION CENTRE for all Bar Services required. Bar service must end no later than 2:00am and the premises must be vacated by 3:00am. Any Renter that exceeds this time limit will be charged an additional $75.00 per hour.
  3. The Renter is responsible for all arrangements regarding a DJ or band and all related equipment. In no way will the NISKU RECREATION CENTRE or its representatives be responsible for any equipment or other items belonging to the Renter that are left on the premises.
  4. The NISKU RECREATION CENTRE will not be responsible for lost or stolen articles of the Renter, its agents, servants, employees, invitees or guests.
  5. At any event on the NISKU RECREATION CENTRE premises, any direction(s) issued by its employees, agents, or representatives are to be followed.  Failure to do so can result in the expulsion of the Renter and his or her agents, servants, employees, invitees or guests from the premises. In the event of expulsion, the Renter shall not be entitled to any form of refund of monies paid for the rental.
  6. The NISKU RECREATION CENTRE is not responsible for any illness, affliction, or any other type of injury that may arise from the use of outside items that are brought into the NISKU RECREATION CENTRE by the Renter or his or her agents. This applies but is not limited to food and / or drinks prepared by persons other than NISKU RECREATION CENTRE employees.
  7. It will be the duty of the Renter to designate a specific person as contact or “person in charge of the event”. That person must make himself/herself known to the designated employee, agent, or representative of by the NISKU RECREATION CENTRE at the beginning of the function.

Absolutely no nails, tacks or tape on painted surfaces to be used to hang decorations. The use of confetti is permitted, but is subject to a clean up fee of $150 which must be paid by the Renter and will be included on the final invoice.

FINAL HEAD COUNT NUMBERS MUST BE GIVEN 10 WORKING DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVENT / FUNCTION. AT THAT TIME, THE INVOICE MUST BE PAID IN FULL - FOR THE FACILITY RENTAL, FOOD, BEVERAGES, AND ALL OTHER AGREED UPON AMOUNTS PER THE SIGNED CONTRACT.

INVOICED amounts include, but are not limited to:

                                                               i.      Alcoholic Beverages that will be consumed during the event or function

                                                             ii.      Late night snacks / lunches which are based on actual number of people present

  1. The signature of the Renter affixed to the Agreement on page 2 is an acknowledgment of compliance with the rules as stated above. The Nisku Recreation Centre reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. All prices are subject to change until a contract has been signed and a deposit taken.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 

·         Can I get married at your Facility?

o   Most definitely! The trees on our Patio make a perfect backdrop for an Outdoor Ceremony. Weather not co-orperating? No problem! We’ll help the Bride make the decision whether or not to bring the ceremony indoors 3 days prior to the event. The charge for this is $300.00 non-refundable at the time of booking. Pictures can be taken either on or off the premises, and the Bride & Groom have peace of mind knowing their guests are already settled in. 

·         Is there a place where the Children can roam around that is safe?

o   Certainly! Our entire Park Space is fenced. And the Patio and Picnic areas directly behind our Centre allow the parents to mix and mingle while keeping an eye on their children. And there’s plenty of room for the kids to run around and burn off some energy.

·         What is included in the Room Rental Fee?

o   Our staff will both set up and tear down the room for your Big Day. This includes all tables, head tables, signing tables, screens, podium, cake table, gift tables, etc that is specified in the contract. Also included in this price are all of the linens (table skirting, table cloths, cloth napkins), all cutlery, china, dance floor, and speaker system.  Specialty ordered linen colours, or extra napkins to act as part of the centre pieces are a small additional charge.

·         Can you also supply a gift opening the following day?

o   Sure we can. It’s a pleasure for us to make your wedding as seamless as possible. As long as the next day is not already in use, you may book it for your gift opening for a nominal charge of $250.00 for the use of the room. And we’re pleased to offer various menus for a quick lunch or snack trays as well.

o   Rehearsal dinners are also available for a nominal fee of $250.00 plus catering costs, and again, dependent upon the room being available. Why not book the room up to 10:00 pm to decorate, rehearse and relax? We’ll take all the stress out of the equation for you!

·         What is SOCAN? Why do I have to pay it?

o   SOCAN is an acronym for Society of Composers, Authors & Music Publishers of Canada. This tariff is charged at every facility that hosts any event that has music.

·         Should I host my own Bar?

o   No way, why go to the trouble of picking up and returning all the alcohol, plus insurance and a license when we will do it all for you? We supply everything you need. Bar service must end no later than 2:00 am and the premises must be vacated by 3:00am. If you need to exceed this time limit for any reason, and the bartenders are willing to stay after 3:00am, then there will be an additional charge of $75.00 per hour. 

o   Wine tables are very popular these days. We supply all the wine for $23.00 per bottle, and set it up. Usually the wine is brought out just prior to dinner, and no new bottles will be opened once dinner is over. We are pleased to invoice you for this service.

·         Should I bring in my own Caterers?

o   No need. We are a fully licensed banquet hall. Our chefs are exceptional, and the food is exquisite. Our prices are reasonable and our menu’s can be customized to your requirements and budget. And don’t forget to ask us about supplying a late night snack (for a nominal fee) for your guests before they drive home.

o   We request confirmation of numbers at least 10 days prior to the wedding, at which time the food and venue invoice must be paid in full.

·         Can you decorate our tables?

o   Our staff will be pleased to put the centerpieces, place cards, favours, guest book, etc out for you. Our fee for this service is $25.00 / hour, with a one hour minimum charge.

o   We also are able to create wonderful centerpieces and decorated head tables for a nominal per table charge.

·         Can I design my own menu?

o   Yes, we have a wide variety of choices for you to choose from. Or make a suggestion and we’ll do our best to accommodate to your needs. Our pricing starts as low as $18.00 per person for an h'orderves style cocktail reception, all the way up to $35.00 per person for a steak dinner. Our goal is to work with you to give you the best dinner possible – within your budget.

·         Is a deposit required?

o   Yes. Once the contract is signed and the $1,000.00 deposit has been paid, your date is guaranteed.

·         Why should I use your facility for my venue?

o   What a great question! There are many fabulous venues around Edmonton. They all have good food, bartending and a dance floor. And their service is every bit as good as ours. But what they don’t have is our view. Imagine watching your children playing in a grassy meadow as your guests wander about on the patio. And you’re observing all of this from within the dining room. Our wall of windows will ‘Wow’ you and your guests.
